The full moon in Aquarius reminds us of the intuitive resources of the group. The true expression of your creative self acknowledges collective wisdom – your community, your culture, your ancestors.
There’s a lot of power (and a sprinkle of ego) held at the solar end of the full moon with the Sun, joined by Mars, Venus, and Mercury in Leo.
This Aquarius full moon exposes the changes needed in your relationships as the aftershocks of July’s eclipses still ripple out into the world. Venus is being purified by the Sun as the moon becomes full.
So much of who you are is in defined by your relationships with others: A proud mother, a loving partner, a devoted son, a nurse, a writer, a committee member, a voter. These titles don’t make sense without another person or group involved.
The Aquarius/Leo axis is about your place as an individual within the collective and this Aquarius full moon is sheds new light on the perennial topic of interpersonal relations.
Saturn is the ruler of the Aquarius full moon so your Saturn in Capricorn story continues to unfold. Saturn is currently retrograde, consolidating the lessons of recent experiences, and quietly drawing up long-term plans to rebuild on stronger foundations. This is a time of preparation and inner work.
Saturn is travelling slowly alongside the south node. In short, something old and stale is being released in this part of your natal chart.
Very topically, in the oracle of my social media feeds, I have seen this quote do the rounds recently.
Even relationships that are seemingly over, influence us long after the other person has died, or moved away, or become an ex.
Notice the traditions and beliefs that you automatically uphold, and let go of the ones that are not working for you. There is no need to carry them forward into future relationships or future generations.
Aquarius is a forward-thinking sign. It reforms and envisions new structures/ideology. It is an intellectual air sign, so there’s a cool distance that assists your analysis of the Moon’s emotional entanglements.
Modern astrology has dubbed Uranus the ruler of Aquarius. For a variety of reasons that I won’t get into in this post, I use the traditional rulers; however, there is an affinity between Aquarius’ ‘out with the old’ style and the progressive planet, Uranus.
So why am I talking about Uranus? Well, just before this Aquarius full moon, Uranus is concentrating his energy at 6 degrees of Taurus as he begins his regular retrograde cycle (on the 12th).
Like Aquarius, Taurus is a fixed sign, and there’s the feeling of a spanner suddenly being jammed in the ‘business as usual’ works at this full moon.
This Aquarius full moon is not usual; Aquarius doesn’t do ‘usual’. It’s all about being original, marching to the beat of your own drum, and finding your tribe of fellow weirdos.
There’s another big planetary shift too: Jupiter in Sagittarius ends his retrograde period (also on the 12th). All the good stuff that has been held back or blocked or delayed (particularly since mid-April) will be unleashed in the best possible way once Jupiter returns to direct motion.
This full moon marks a change in your fortunes. Break out of the shackles of the past and step forth into your brave new world.
